Guest Designer for My Thought Exactly Stamps

Hi everyone! I am so happy to be a guest designer today for My Thoughts Exactly Stamps! I got this card idea from a magazine, and I realized it would go perfectly with their stamps set "Under the Sea"

I call it "Fishy Day" and it's one of those all occasion cards. I cut the circle for the fish at 3" and I punched 1" circles in the front of the card. Then I cut the fish fins from the goldfish on Create a Critter to add to the fish. I put a little button eye on him and stamped "Best Fishes" from the MTE stamps.

I made the blue bubbles on the front of the card using this highlighter. You can see a little of the ink on the tip. It has an opening on the end that was just perfect to stamp little circles.

These stamps are so cute I just couldn't resist making a sentiment for the inside. This little crab is adorable! and his smile is great. I cut the seaweed from Life's a Beach.

I hope you liked my card and please go check out My Thoughts Exactly stamps. They are going to release a new set August 1st!

I also entered this card into the Papercraft Star Challenge # 55 Anything Goes,

SST Sketch Challenge!

Hi All!
Sweet Stamping Treats is having a sketch challenge. The winner of this challenge will get 3 free digis of their choice. This is the card I created for the challenge:

The stamp I used is called Baby Elephant. I think he is just so cute! I used my copic's to color him in.

I thought that adding some pink to his inner ear would give him a bit more personality, and I added eyelashes. (I almost turned him into a her, but then I would have made my card pink!) I hope that you will join us on this challenge, and there is a sale going on at SST. Six digis for 6 dollars. What a deal!

I also entered this card into the Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge # 38 Anything goes (as long as you use a digi stamp) and the Totally Stampalicious Challenge Anything Goes, Two Sisters Challenge Blog # 49 Anything Goes, the Clear it Out Challenge Anything Goes  (are you seeing a patter here?)

For my project today I did a stamped card:

I used a Fluffles the Cat stamp from Stampendous. I just love this little guy! I colored it in using colored pencils, and I discovered that I prefer markers. But I do like how this one turned out. You can't tell in the photo but I put some glossy accents on the ornaments so that they look more 3d.

For my project I was inspired by these gift tags.

I picked them up at at CVS for $.75, and I though I could do something with them. Of course I didn't want to use them as the obvious gift tags. I though they would make great embellishments for my cards.

I started with the penguin, and I though it would be fun to make a circle card, so I picked this one from the Wildcard Cricut Cartridge. I pulled some paper out of my really old DCWV Christmas Stack, which I am slowly making a dent in.
This one is really easy. I started with the striped base from My Minds Eye paper, then the Snowflake paper which is from My little Shoebox. That red patterned paper is from Making Memories Valentines line Love Notes. I don't know where the green polka dot came from, it just happened to be in my pile of scrap papers.

Eventually I plan to make a card for each of the tags, but I think I'm off to a good start. And now for my blog candy! Since this post is about using some embellishments, I 'm giving away a bag of embellishments!
There are some stickers, brads and index tabs in here, and I'm throwing in this cute Zva Creative reusable bag too. To enter please follow my blog, and if you have facebook follow me there too. Then leave a comment on this post letting me know that you did.

Design Team!

I'm a member of the design team at Sweet Stamping Treats!

Check them out here.

They have some really cute digital stamps. This is my first card with Sweet Stamping Treat stamps!

I made this card with the Big Flower digi. It's one of those "emergency" cards that you can use for almost any occasion. I always keep a few in my desk at work for birthdays and baby showers.

I colored the images in with my Copics and I used Neenah Solar White card stock to print the image on. I love how they blend together! I'm having loads of fun learning how to blend colors and combine two markers to make a another shade.

Red, White and Blue

It's been a heck of a week here in Sunny SoCal. The weather is gloomy in the mornings and lovely hot in the afternoons. And as my luck would have it, my hubby's transmission went out. Between replacing the transmission (on a Honda, can you believe it?) and paying for the rental car we spent some serious $$$. Which means no new craft supplies for me! I am very sad about that, but happy that nothing serious happened to my husband as he was on the freeway when the transmission decided to die.
Anyway, lets get to the crafty stuff! Patches of Pink is having a Red, White, and Blue Challenge. This is actually a design team entry to replace some team members who had to leave, but I'm not really counting on getting a spot. This card is more about how I'm feeling really. I wanted to inspire myself.

The patterned paper is from Best Creations, and the other side is glittered and kite themed. It's really cute. All of these cuts are from Walk in My Garden, which is an oldie but goodie Cricut cartridge. I feel like I've been neglecting my Cricut lately because I've been doing so many stamped cards. I'm not sure if you can tell but I pop-dotted the middle flower and the flower pot to give the card some dimension.

I printed the saying from my computer with a font called. LD Greenleaf, which I though was appropriate. I love the little caterpillar, and I was happy that it cut so well at .77 size. I used on of my copic multi-liners to add the details to him. I like that pen because the ink doesn't really spread and look messy.  I though that "Bloom where you are planted" was really appropriate, because I have to make the best of my situation, which really isn't that bad. I've got plenty of old craft supplies to play with!

Pumpkin Spice Design Team Entry

Wow, this is a last minute thing! I just found out tonight that Pumpkin Spice was looking for a design team and I could not resist entering! They are a company after my own heart! "Memories are Priceless, budgets are not." (Now you are talking my language) This is a total bargain site with a great selection of paper and other crafty products. You should check them out!

Their challenge is to use paper from two different paper lines on their list:

Bo Bunny
Cosmo Cricket
Crate Paper
Echo Park
Graphic 45
My Mind’s Eye

So I ran through my paper stash and was left staring at a pile of paper on my craft room floor trying to put two together. Bo Bunny and Crate Paper? MME and Echo Park? The choices were endless!!!!!! Then I saw it. Graphic 45's Playtimes Past Collection and Echo Park's For the Record. PERFECT!

I have to say this is really not my style of crafting but I was so inspired. This is what I came up with:

I started with a base of 61/2" by 5 of Echo Parks Borders paper, and then cut a 3" strip of Graphic 45's Life's a Ball. I punched both sides of the 3" strip with a Fiskars border punch. Then I added a 1 1/2" strip of Echo Park's Fabric Store paper.

I used Graphic 45's Child's Play, which is a whole sheet of old fashioned adds for toys. I cut two adds out of that sheet, then I added a mocha colored satin ribbon and glued the two adds to it.

Then I added a couple of Prima Flowers from their Belle Fleur set for a little color. They come with the brads already in the center which is so nice because I don't have to hunt for matching ones.

Echo Park is probably my favorite paper company right now, I love their new Dots and Stripes. Bo Bunny is running a close second. Anyway, wish me luck!

Surprise Party Layout

I finally got around to scrapping some of the million pictures I have stored in a box. These are from my hubby's 30th birthday (I will be nice and not say how long ago that was). We had been dating a little over a year and I decided to throw him a surprise party on his actual birthday. He worked that day and I picked him up from work and suggested that we head to Dave and Busters for dinner. The look on his face when he walked in and saw all of his family and friends sitting there was priceless! I only wish one of them had taken a picture of that.

I cut the banner flags from Tie the Knot, and the letters from Plantin Schoolbook. I used patterned paper from Pine Cone Press and solid colored Bazzill Cardstock.

It's hard to see in this picture ( I need more practice at taking pictures, or maybe a professional studio) but there is a yellow ribbon that I glued the banner flags to.

I added these balloons because my friend Shannon bought all the balloons you see in the pictures (way more than I expected, but she did a good job). She made the mistake of tying them to the chairs and every time someone moved a chair the balloons would get sucked up into the ceiling fan. It was so funny, and she kept yelling at people for doing it.

I added a few more ribbons to accent the photos. That giant cake in the lower left photo was a custom made Snickers cake because my husband used to eat a Snickers almost every day. We have since stopped that practices as both of our metabolisms have slowed down with age. In the picture above that one, Jimmy's friend is giving him a fully punched rental card for Spanky's, an "adult" video store. He was embarrassed because he parents were at the table.

I know this would look so much better if I had better light! The colors are really great on this paper though and I love the way it turned out.

I also put this in the You Had Me at Craft link up party,

And the Craft Junkie Too link up party. Join the fun.

Beach Party Invitation

This is my latest creations! It's an invitation to a beach party.  I used Surfer Anya, which is the stamp that I won from The Greeting Farm earlier this year. The little whale is from a new stamp company called My Thoughts Exactly, Under the Sea set. I colored Anya in with my Copic Markers, and I'm still working on my technique. I used paper from Echo Park's Sweet Summertime line. I really like all of their paper lines, especially the new Halloween line. It's gorgeous and you should really check them out. I cut the circle and the little plaque with my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge.  Then I chalked some of the edges with my catseye chalk in Chestnut Roan.

I entered this card in a couple of challenges. The first is TGF Farm Fresh Challenge Blog Mystery Monday. The next is Cricut 360 Challege Blog, design an invitation. I also entered the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, Seeing Double. That's why this card has two stars and two whales!

I hope you like my creation. Happy Crafting.

Blog Candy Winner and a story.

Okay, today is the day I announce the winner of my Glue Arts Adhesive Blog Candy, But first I;m going to tell you a little story. In my last post I gave a random fact about myself: "If you live in So Cal you will understand this: My hubby dragged me into the 909!" A couple of people have asked me what this means, so I'm going to explain. The 909 is the area code for San Bernardino County in Southern California. If you live anywhere in the local area, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino County or Riverside County, (these last two are know as the Inland Empire or IE)  you know that these four counties have different status levels assigned to living in them (yes, just like on all those silly TV shows about California, people really do judge you for where you live). I was born and raised in Los Angeles, specifically the West Side, which is kind of snobby. People in LA refer to people in San Bernardino or Riverside as "the 909, land of the dirt dwellers". Before you get super offended this is because most everything in LA is paved unless you are in a state park. It's not that way out in the IE. There are dairies, chicken farms, horse property, and orange groves, thus "dirt". Something you just don't see every day in LA. Anyway, people in LA don't like the idea of living in the IE, but it's acceptable to move to Orange County. People in Orange County don't like the idea of living in any of the other counties, unless you move to Malibu, (Malibu Barbie anyone?). And people in the IE think LA and OC are snobs.
My hubby was born and raised in Riverside, and until I started dating him I NEVER went there! In fact I was shocked to see housing tracts that had a dirt shoulder and no sidewalks. I was very sheltered, and teased him about being a red-neck. My father-in-law probably fulfills about half of Jeff Foxworthy's "you might be a red-neck" jokes. Needless to say when we got married I made him move to an apartment in LA county, near the border to San Bernardino. But when we tried to buy a house, everything we could afford in LA was super tiny, in a bad neighborhood, or worse. So we had to start looking in San Bernardino County, the 909, where we eventually purchased a house, and where I swore I would never move to. We have a lovely home with paved sidewalks, but a few streets over there are dirt shoulders to the road and not sidewalks. And farms. So I always say he "dragged me into the 909".  And now you all probably think I'm a snob.

Now for the part you actually care about, the winner! After adding up all the entries and getting a number from the winner is:
