Easter Layout

Here is a quick post. I had to snap it fast because I was giving this layout away. Isn't it cute? I used the Easter 2010 and Stretch your Imagination Cricut carts.  

3-D Bunny Basket for My Cricut Craft Room

This is how I did it. 

 Take an 8x8 sheet of cardstock and score it at 2 1/2" and 5 1/2". Then rotate the paper and score it again at the same measurements. Save the scraps that you cut this square out of for the basket handle.

 Then fold the paper along the score lines. Fold up making sure that the side of the paper you want on the outside of the basket is facing down on your surface.

 Cut along the score lines on the top and bottom of the paper, until you reach the intersecting score line. Be sure to cut just up to where the score lines cross. Make sure that the sides of the paper that you cut are opposite one another, not next to each other. Fold the flaps and use adhesive to secure them to form the box. The sides of your box will be 2 1/2" x 3". Cut pieces of patterned paper at 2 1/4" x 2 3/4" and glue them to the sides of your box.

Now make the handle.

 Take a 2 1/2" by what ever length your paper was (mine was 8 1/2" x11, so my strip is 2 1/2" by 8 1/2") and use an edge punch on each side. To make the punch line up on both sides start with the paper in the position you see above. This photo shows that I lined up the paper with the end of the guide image on the border punch.

 Once you punched the first side begin in the same position on the opposite side. Line the paper up with the end of the guide image on the border punch.

 This makes the punch pattern even on both sides. 

 Then a a 1" strip of your patterned paper to the handle and attache the handle to the basket. You can use adhesive, or use a brad on each side to secure your handle.

I used the cute April Showers paper  by 3 Bugs in a Rug that I had left over from last year.

And because it's a Bunny Basket I cut out this cute bunny face from the Easter 2010 cartridge at 3" and glued it to the side of my box. This is perfect for Easter treats!
