Welcome to my Blog and the Easter Eggstravaganza Blog Hop! If you've come from visiting Darla's blog, you're in the right place. If you were just looking at my blog and want to play along with our blog hopping fun, you can start at the beginning at http://nadiasbeautifulmess.blogspot.com/. This blog hop is all about creating something sweet for your Easter celebrations. We hope you find inspirations and plenty of ideas to spice up your holiday :)
The theme for this blog hop is something sweet. I couldn't think of anything better that strawberry short cake! Here in California it's strawberry season and you can pick up a pint of super sweet strawberries on almost any corner.
To go with my strawberry short cake I made these little napkin rings. Because everyone needs a napkin when enjoying desert.
I made the rings out of the cob of my paper towel roll. (Recycling!) I cut it lengthwise all the way down and flattened it out. Then I used my paper trimmer (yes, I know, I'm a little nutty, but I wanted to measure) to cut out four 1" wide strips. I covered them with this Imaginisce paper on both sides and hot glued them back together. I had this paper left over from some baby shower invites I made and I just had 4" wide strips of it left. Perfect for this project!
For the fan folded flower I cut the 12x4 strips into 12x2 strips of the paper and them punched the length of one side with a Fiskars border punch. I liked the cute little edge that it makes.
I then scored the strip of paper at every 1/2" with my Martha Stewart Scoring Board and folded it. I hot glued the ends together and glued a circle of cardstock to the underside to hold it in place. Then I added the images to the top and glued the flower to the ring over the seam to hide it. I think they turned out okay. The chick is from Create a Critter, and the Tulip is from Gypsy font. The bunny and butterfly are from Gypsy Wanderings.
And now for the blog candy!! In honor of spring I am giving one lucky hopper these flowers. There are 5 bags of flowers here (and some buttons in 2 of the bags) that would be perfect for pretty spring projects. To win you must be a follower. The winner will be chosen randomly from all the comments on this post and announced on Tuesday! For an extra chance to win "like" my facebook page (link is up at the top of the blog) and leave me a comment there!
