Pretty as a Picture Card

It's that time of year again, Wedding Season! June is such a popular month for weddings that I've been asked by at least 4 friends to make them wedding or bridal shower cards. Since I just took a Copic Certification Class I thought I would try out my markers with this!

The stamp is Cheeky Beauty from The Greeting Farm. I used Gina K Pure Luxury and Momento Ink for this one. I like the Gina K paper, but might want to switch to something a little cheap if I'm going to do this a lot. The frame is from the Cricut Jasmine font cartridge, and the roses are from Prima, which happens to be my favorite flower company.  I like that it looks like a charm!
Here's a closer view of her. I'm still working on my coloring technique, but the class certainly helped. Blending and shadow are tough to master. I used some ribbon that I picked up at Pinecone Press a few months ago and the paper is from 7gypsys. I entered this card into the Paper Sundaes Challenge, Vintage or Shabby Chic. I think this qualifies for both!

Almost forgot! These are the markers that I used to color in the image.

Grillin' and Chillin' Bug Hop

Welcome to BugBites first ever Bug Hop, Grillin’ & Chillin’ Bug Hop!

To celebrate the beginning of summer, Barb over at BugBites is hosting two consecutive weekends of Bug Hops.

This weekend it is all about the Grillin’, May 28-30.

If you've come from visiting Deb's blog at http://debspaperpassion.blogspot.com, you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our Grillin’ & Chillin’ Bug Hop, click HERE to start from the beginning.

Each designer along the bug trail is featuring a project based on the Grillin’ & Chillin’ theme. What’s more exciting is you can participate too by creating a project and linking it up over at BugBites for a chance to win a Big Prize.

But, there’s a twist. Your project must included at least one Cricut cut and at least one of the critters that have been hidden within some of the bug stop blogs. Be sure to visit all the bug stops to find all your critter choices.

While you are looking for the critters, be sure to check out the blog candy that each designer has to offer you. You don't want to miss out on any of it!

My project today is a serving tray that I altered. It's just what you need to carry all that meat out to the grill! I went with this supper cute Hula Girl from Life's a Beach

Yes that is my George Forman Grill! We don't own a BBQ grill yet. But I digress. This is what the tray looked like when I started:

Cute, but not really my style. It made for the perfect altered item. First I spray painted the whole thing white ( I used 3 coats to get even coverage).

The I cut out my hottie Hula Girl at 10" using solid colored cardstock. I used up most of my scraps of blue cardstock to make the waves for the background. I used a Fiskars boarder punch on the cardstock to get the little blue wave edge.

The bottom is sand paper. My hubby thought it looked a little bare so I added the pink seashells, also from Life's a Beach. Then I covered the whole thing with Mod Podge to make it waterproof.

I had to let the Mod Podge dry for a few hours before adding the next coat. I used about 4 coats, and I might add one more for good measure. So that's my totally hot Grillin' project.

Now on to the bog candy! I have some super cute Hawaiian themed rub-ons (Almost used them for this project), a Hawaiian frame kit, and some super versital Prima flower. I love to buy flowers in white because you can use all kinds of stuff to change the color of the flowers to match your project! You can spray them with Smooch or Glimmer Mist, color them in with Copic Markers, or use chalks to make them match. To enter please leave a comment on this post. You must be a follower to win. Really sorry, I am only able to ship to US or Canada. It's just too expensive to ship international, or else I would! For an extra chance to win ( yes I do add these in before I pick a winner) like me on Facebook and leave a comment there. (The link to my Facebook is on the top of the sidebar at the right.)

Your next stop is Jessica's blog, http://chick-n-scrap.blogspot.com. See what she has in store for you today. Happy Crafting!

Remember, once you have hopped to all the bug stops, it's your turn to show us your Grillin’ & Chillin’ project.

Make sure to include a Cricut cut somewhere on your project, include one of the hidden critters and link up your project over at BugBites by Midnight CST May 30 to be eligible for the big prize.

Birthday Boy Card

So while I was sick I wasn't supposed to do anything strenuous, like work on the house, or dig trenches in the back yard, or even drive too much. But no one said anything about crafting.

My friends are always asking me to make boy cards, which is not as easy as you would think (at least not for me). So I made this one. The Birthday Boy is from Storybook, one of my favorite cartridges because I just love the font. It's cut at 2 1/2", and the scalloped square and white inset are from Winter Woodlands, cut at 3 3/4". The patterned paper is from DCWV "the Stack" #5. I think this one is a bit old, and the black and white paper from my graduation card came from this stack too. The solid cardstock is from Bazzil and the ribbon is from Michaels, and just a small bit of bling to dot the "i". That rhinestone is yellow, it just looks brown in the lighting.

And here's a little paper saver tip for you. I cut the scalloped square out of my base brown layer of card stock.

Since I used a white card base and layered several papers on top I knew that no one would be able to tell. So I cut my base layers to fit the size of the card and stuck them to onto my mat. Then I positioned my blade in about the center of the paper, at least 1/2" from the top or bottom. This saved me at least one sheet of paper because I made a couple of this card.

This trick is easier to do if you have a Gypsy, but mine was not charged! So I just eyeballed it and it worked out fine. You can use your Gypsy to set one cut inside of another an be certain that they won't touch. Hope this little tip helps you save some $$!

Happy Crafting.

Missing post

Okay, blogger went down, and one of my posts with it, which has still not been restored. And I don't remember in exact detail everything that I wrote on the missing post. I'm still hoping that it will come back. So I'm just going to do my best here. I did receive two new awards:

The first one is the The Stylish blogger Award from Deb at www.scrappingmama.net.

And the second is Cricut-tastic Award from Sherrie at http://sherriescraps.blogspot.com/ (and someone else, and as soon as I figure out who I will add them)

I sort of remember who I passed these on to, but not everyone so I don't want to make a mistake or hurt someone's feelings. I will just leave these up and say I hope you know who you are! (Yes cop out I know, but hey, I've been sick!) Anyway, here's hoping my post comes back!

Disney Blog Hop

Welcome to the My Blog and the Disney Blog Hop. If you have come from Sylvia's blog, you are in the right place. If you are just visiting my Blog and want to play along, you can do so by starting at Sylvia's blog (www.bellascrapbookdesigns.blogspot.com)

For my project I really wanted to use the Tinkerbell and Friends Cartridge. I love Tinkerbell, but It's really hard for me to use this cart for card making. Her face never looks right when I cut it small! So I decided to make a Mother's Day Centerpiece staring Tinkerbell.

I used a terracotta pot from the dollar store and painted it pink. Then I cut flowers from Walk in My Garden, and butterflies from Sentimentals

I used flower foam to put the centerpiece together and disguised the foam with green tissue paper.

I even added a little glitter to Tinkerbell's wings.

And I have a little blog candy. I am giving a way this Tinkerbell pin from Disneyland. I had a little trouble with the picture, but it says Where dreams come true. If you would like to win this pin please leave a comment on this post. And my give away of the Scotch Pink Adhesive Tape Glider is still going on till Monday, so feel free to scroll down and enter that too!

Thank you for playing along and Happy Crafting. Your next stop is Nadia
