My favorite Christmas Card of the Season

This was probably one of my favorite cards from this season. It s a cute ornament card with a popup inside. I had one sheet left of the blue paper from Bo Bunny. You cant tell from this picture, but the paper is kind of iridescent, which makes this card a little more elegant. The holly paper is from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses line. I used kraft colored cardstock to mat the card, 2 layers of pink card stock punched with a Martha Stewart paper punch. 

The ornament and holly berry are from Joys of the Season. I cut the ornament from cream colored cardstock and stamped it with snowflake stamps from Recollections. Inside I used another one of my Sizzix pop up dies for the tree, 

Merry Christmas Tree Card

Oh boy it's almost Christmas!  I've go a very old  DCWV paper stack that I'm trying to use up. When I say old, I mean I've had it for at least 5 years. I call it the never ending stack because I have made cards from it for at least 5 years and I still have the stack. I went for the non-traditional colored paper for this card, pink,purple, grey and black. 

I cut the trees from Joys of the Season and the layer underneath from Songbird. I have the Merry Christmas from Hero Arts.

Today I have a layout for your. I know I haven't done one in a while because I am so busy with making cards, but I have to get back to my scrapbooking! So for my tree themed project I made this:

The stripped paper and the paper with presents is from an old DCWV Christmas stack. I must say that it has lasted me quite a long time. I think I bought it 4 Christmas's ago. The red polka dot paper is from Scenic Route Paper Co.

I used 3 different cart for this project. The words are from Simply Sweet, cut at 2". The star garland is from Joys of the Season. I used my Gypsy to weld together 2 garlands to get the size I wanted for this layout. The tree is from Paper Dolls Dress Up and is cut at 10.5". I really like this particular tree, and have used it for several projects in the past

These lights on the tree are from a craft and hobby store. I picked them up and just hung on to them for a few years waiting for the perfect project to come along. I think they look great. I use small glue dots to keep each one in place. The star on top of the tree is cut out of Best Creations Glittered cardstock. I really like this one because the glitter doesn't shed, but it is very expensive. Must get back to Christmas shopping!

Today's card is ornament themed. I wanted something clean and simple, so I came up with this card.

The card itself is made from red cardstock at 6.5 x 5. The green matting is 6 x 4.5 and I used a Martha Stewart corner punch to give it some flair. Then I matted a piece of white cardstock on top of the green and stamped it with Merry Christmas. The ornaments are cut from the Joys of the Season Cartridge, but I'm sure many cartridges have ornaments that you could use. The green one is cut at 2.5" and the red on is cut at 2". The "Merry Christmas" is from a Recollections clear stamp set that I got last year at Michael's.

This is a great card for using up scraps of patterned paper, and you could do it in any color scheme you like. Maybe even make cards that match your actual holiday decor! Happy Crafting.

For today's theme I made an ornament with a penguin. This one is pretty simple, but I think it's so cute.

The snowflake is from When It's Cold Outside, and I cut it out at 5". I used Mod Podge to add glitter to the ornament. After the glitter I added a second layer of Mod Podge to keep the glitter from shedding everywhere.  I cut the penguin from Joys of the Season at 3". I used Peachy Keen Stamps Critter Faces for his little face, and chalked his cheeks with some Pebbles Chalk. I used a marker to color in his feet rather than cut them out. All that's left is to add some string and he's ready to go. He's so cute, but I don't even have my tree up yet! Better get started. Happy Crafting!

A Holly Jolly Holday Card

It's Christmas Time! And I love Christmas Carols, so  the theme of this Christmas Card is Holly Jolly Christmas.

This one is sort of simple and elegant. I used Joys of the Season for the holly leaves, and Storybook for the tag on the bottom. The sentiment is from Recollections, and the tag has black brads from American crafts. The flocked paper is from 7 Gypsy's, and the striped paper is from DCWV. The pearl button is a brad that I picked up a few years ago in the Michael's clearance rack, and I have no idea who makes it.It is very heavy though, and I had to affix it with the hot glue gun. Guessing it will take extra postage to mail due to the weight.

An almost Valentines Card (but not quite)

Getting to into the mood for Valentines Day, although I missed the mark! Most of the people I showed this to though it was a bridal shower card. I was experimenting with colors and I think black and red would have been a better fit. Anyway, the bustier is from the Cricut Tie the Knot cart, and I just had to use it. It's very va-va-voom! Of course the flower I made myself (see my tutorial two posts ago) The edges of the card are chalked with Colorbox chestnut roan, and the lace is a Martha Stewart punch. I love Martha Stewart punches because they are just so easy to use.

More Valentines to come, and maybe something special in my future. (I might just be a professional crafter! he-he)

Anyway, I though I would include something old. This is a project I did a while back, and I stuck it in a frame and never put a picture to it. (I haven't been to the snow in years, although I say I am gonna go every season!) Nothin' fancy, but I though it was cute at the time.

Cricut Christmas at the Office

As with everything else this year we had a very small budget to decorate my office. (I'm talking less than $20 here.) So I broke out the Cricut and the cheap paper. I even used some bent up file folders that we were throwing out (they were used multiple times and were in bad condition, but I cut them up to get to the good spots.) I used a bunch of cartridges for this one, which was easy because I have a Gypsy!





The penguins and polar bears are from Joys of the Season. The igloo is from Create a Critter. For the snow I drew a template using my coffee cup and freehand connected it. Then I cut it out and transferred it to a role of white craft paper. We had to hand cut it out from there. More that 50' of hand cut snow border!


The font is from Winter Woodlands. It's hard to see in this picture but I cut the green shadow letters also, and there are cutouts in each of the red letters that make it look fancy. I made the candy cane poles by wrapping the pole with white paper and then winding red ribbon around it.



And what is the North Pole without Santa? This is also from Joys of the Season. We made some modifications to the pieces and used yellow yarn for the reins.



This tree is also from Winter Woodlands. I had the ornament confetti from my Christmas cards, so I recruited a co-worker or two to help me hot glue each piece to the trees. I then punched little stars out of a sheet of Best Creations Gold Glitter Cardstock. There are 20 trees in all.




The banner flags are from Tie the Knot. I had them left over from another project, so I threw them in. One says NOEL (I know its hard to see in this picture, but it looks better in person) and the other is JOY.

Christmas Card Crazy

I have finished with Christmas Cards, and I wanted a lot of options this year. Everyone will get something a little different! These are all easy cards to make because I didn't have that much time. Also why they are going up in all one post. All of the pattern paper is from one of my older DCWV Christmas stacks. I would have loved to buy new paper this year, but I just have too much already. (I know, you can never have too much, but I'm trying to cut back!)



This one is my favorite. I call it "Holly Jolly". Of course they are all from the Cricut. The shield is cut from the Storybook cart, each one is 1/2" smaller than the previous one to give it some definition. I had a big bag of buttons (say that three time fast) that I got for $2 at a craft fair to use for the holly berries. The leaves are from the Winter Woodlands cart. I put Glossy Accents from Ranger Inc on the leave to make them shinny.




I call this my "Blue Christmas" card. This card is also from Winter Woodlands. I punched the bottom of the card with a Fiskars border punch to give it a lace look. The circle medallion is a 2" circle punch. I printed out Merry Christmas on white card stock from my computer, and stamped the other side with a snowflake. Then I used the stamp pad to ink the edges on both sides.





This card is for those friends who don't celebrate Christmas. I like the paper and I think that the sentiment is very neutral. Not exciting but east to put together. The snowflakes are from the Joys of the Season cart and the scalloped circle is from Storybook.



This Santa is from the Doodlecharms cart. I had these smaller green and red cards lying around so I made use of them. I cut him at 4" which worked out perfectly. I used my Gypsy for this card because these cuts have multiple parts to them. Otherwise I would have to have cut several pieces in red that I would have to have thrown away just to get Santa's red nose.



Last is my little "Chu Chu" card. I was in a blue mood that day. The punch is from Marth Steward and the ornament is from the Joys of the Season cart.
